Throughout history, famous hispanic people have contributed to a variety of activities that developed an influence on future generations. From conquistadors to revolutionary leaders to politicians to actors and songwriters, famous hispanic people have left their mark and continue to make their mark on societies all over the world. Each day you see famous Hispanic people in films, in the news, in sports, in medicine, in politics or listening to their music on your iPod.
There are a large number of famous hispanic people with careers as actors, singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, composers and comedians. Jose Ferrer was one of the first Puerto Ricans to win an Oscar in 1951. In 1961, Rita Moreno also won an Oscar. No one will ever forget "I Love Lucy," starring Cuban actor Desi Arnaz. Other famous Hispanic people who made top billings in film and TV include Andy Garcia, Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz. Selena Gomez is not only famous as an actress but also as a singer and entrepreneur. Famous comedians include George Lopez and Carlos Mencia. There are many famous Hispanic singers, including Jennifer Lopez, Selena Quintanilla, Gloria Estefan and many others.
Many athletes come under the heading of famous hispanic people. Roberto Clemente, not only known for his achievements in baseball, but he is remembered for his humanitarianism efforts as well. Another famous baseball hero is Atanasio Perez Regal, (Tony Perez.) He held 23 years of fame playing for the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos and the Cincinnati Reds. Other Hispanic baseball players included Alex Rodriguez (A Rod) and Jose Canseco. One of the top famous Hispanic race drivers was Juan Pablo Montoya, who achieved the 1999 Formula 3000 Championship and the Indi 500 win in 2000. He went on to win several NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
The world would not be the same without the contributions of early famous hispanic people such as Francisco Vasquez de Coronado and Hernando Cortes. Another person on the list of famous hispanic people is the famous dictator, Fidel Castro. He dictated over Cuba for five decades. Cesar Chavez, one of the most famous Hispanic leaders fought for the rights of farm workers in California. Sonia Sotomayor is the first Hispanic to serve as a United States Supreme Court Judge. Many other famous hispanic people have contributed their talents over the years to change the face of the world.
