There are a multitude of different baby pillows on the market today. They all have some unique function, and I actually think some of them are legitimate! There are baby pillows that position the head and body of the baby while they are sleeping, there are baby pillows that are specifically designed for nursing, and there are even baby pillows designed to position a baby while they are riding in the car, just to name a few.
I think the bassinette pillows on the market today are great. These types of baby pillows position baby so that he or she is flat on their back, which is what is recommended. However, there are new versions of these types of pillows that I like even better. These newer versions include memory foam which will cradle the babys head and really mold to the babys unique shape, rather than making the babys soft mold to the pillow. The memory foam will help to prevent a flat area from forming on babys head. This pillow will also help baby to have a peaceful night of sleep because they will not be able to roll around... they are positioned in one way all night.
Another type of pillow that is on the market today is called a nursing pillow. These pillows are crescent shaping and come in handy for all sorts of things...not just nursing. While they are a great convenience to the nursing mom, they can also be great for supporting baby and looking at books, feeding with a bottle, or even for extra support when a sibling is holding them. I have found that these pillows have a multitude of uses and should be on every moms wish list, whether they are nursing or not.
Car pillows are great to support babys head while riding in a car seat. They are great for the baby to lean their head on for extra support, especially because they will most likely fall asleep. I like the fact that they keep babys head away from the plastic on the car seat. Many car seats include some type of pillow, but I like to pick out my own. It always seems like the ones that are included are just not quite as good as one that you have picked out yourself.
Baby pillows have so many convenient uses. They can be used for many tasks, from support when feeding to riding in the car.
